A selection of shots from January’s airshow at Cable Airport near LA. Traditionally the first airshow of the year, this is a low-key event at this small, family-owned airport. Aw well as the usual based and visiting aircraft making flybys, this year’s airshow featured Julie Clarke in her T-34 Mentor, and locally-based Rob Harrison in his Zlin 50. Clay Lacy brought his PC-6 Turbo Porter over from Van Nuys and did an excellent demonstration of maneuverability and engine-out flying. Planes of Fame sent their P-38 from nearby Chino, and a formation of 5 Nanchangs from Camarillo made several flypasts.
Some of the interesting vintage types included a nice little Culver Dart, and (my own personal favourite) a rare Kinner Sportster side-by-side two-seater, as well as one of only 2 Fokker S.11 Instructors registered in the US. NASA brought their Lockheed YO-3A Quiet Star over from Edwards AFB
